Welcome to Safartas.

The war in Syria in the past decade has proved that no neighborhood is immune from destruction, and no home is guaranteed to be preserved for its owner’s children. Many scenes from Damascus, Aleppo, and other Syrian cities are unrestorable. This unfortunate fact has motivated our team to start documenting scenes from the rich tangible culture in Syria, by filming neighborhoods and streets, and people interacting with their environments at certain points in time. Our aim is to generally provide all interested viewers with a close look into everyday life in Syria, and to especially provide Syrians abroad with a connection to their memories.

Safartas Objectives:

  1. Preserving the tangible culture of Syria through filming scenes from cities, neighborhoods and homes, and everyday life in Syrian cities.
  2. Providing a channel for Syrians abroad to follow-up with scenes from their cities, neighborhoods and homes, and learn about the reality of life in Syria at the present time.
  3. Rebuild the communication channels between Syrians from different backgrounds.
  4. Enable those interested in Syria to see the reality of the situation in the country in an impartial and independent manner.

Safartas principles:

  1. Neutrality and impartiality to any political or religious party in Syria or abroad.
  2. Non-interference by videographers by remaining silent during filming to capture and reflect the true status of the place visually and aurally.
  3. Respecting different points of view, and leaving viewers’ comments on the videos, as long as they do not contain hate speech or calls for violence.
